What changes the price of wedding photography

Hours of coverage are the biggest factor. A short ceremony and reception needs a different day from a full wedding that starts with getting ready and ends on the dance floor.

A second photographer adds cost but means two angles at the moments that matter: the walk down the aisle, the first look, the speeches. Printed products such as a coffee-table photobook, and adding film or drone footage, are the other main drivers. Weddings outside Cape Town may include travel costs, which are quoted up front.

How many hours of coverage do you need?

  • 4 hours suits an intimate wedding, an elopement or a couple shoot: the ceremony and the start of the reception.
  • 8 hours covers most weddings from getting ready through the ceremony, couple portraits and the first part of the reception.
  • 12 hours covers the whole day, including family photos and the late reception, with a second photographer so nothing is missed.

Questions to ask any wedding photographer

  • Can I see full wedding galleries, not only highlights? (Every R2F story on the Work page shows the whole roll as a contact sheet.)
  • How quickly will we see our photos? R2F sends a preview gallery within a week and the full edited gallery within two to four weeks.
  • Who will actually shoot our wedding, and will there be a second photographer?
  • What happens if we need extra hours on the day?
  • Can you film the day as well, and how do photo and video work together?
